My goodness! I am really way behind in my posts! It’s been such a hectic, chaotic, and stressful period, and haven’t kept up with everything. Anyway, let’s start fresh this year.
The 2019 Special Olympics is off and running, with 8 states already announcing their colours. It’s also the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics, so this will be a little more special.
Here’s the colours for the 8 states. More states will announce colours by late summer/early fall, so it’s good to get started on these early.
The group has chosen Stripes as the featured pattern, but you can use any pattern/design.
As usual, you’re welcome to join the Facebook and Ravelry groups and meet all the other crafters. The complete info and details will be on a separate page – which I just remembered that I also still have to work on 😲
Anyway, you can’t go wrong with scarves and stripes. Let’s get started!
I am having trouble getting yarn for Kansas. Are there alternate colours that can be used?
Does Florida take part in this? Thanks
Hi! Sorry, just saw this. No, Florida does not take part in this. Please do consider making items for other participating states. Thanks.
Does New York ever participate??? have wonderful friends in Texas who have let me know about this project and I would so want to participate. If NY is not presently participating how can I do something to change that.
Thank you for your help.
Hello! No, New York has declined to participate.
You can get in touch with their office and ask; they might change their mind for this year.
If they don’t participate, please do consider making items for other participating states.
Thanks for your help!
Marissa
I love doing Special Olympics. I generally knit and/or crocheting for about four states, not counting my home state. Speaking of home state, is Iowa accepting mittens and hats for 2019?
Yes, they are accepting mittens and hats for 2019. Thanks.
Thanks for doing this every year! It’s nice to have it all in one place to look at the colors, and I like how you show pictures of the colors together with the states – it’s a good visual aid.
You’re welcome! And thank you for supporting the Scarf Project. /Marissa
